The Halifax County – South Boston Regional Library is pleased to announce the addition of a new e-book collection. This new e-resource gives library patrons access to over 3,000 online books for students and job seekers. Some titles include:

  • 10 Best College Majors for Your Personality
  • 150 Best Jobs for a Better World
  • 250 Best-paying Jobs
The online books can be accessed from any computer inside either library by simply following these directions:
  • Log on to a library computer.
  • Go to www.netlibrary.org.
  • Click “eBooks” on the right side of the screen.
  • A list of book titles will appear.
  • Click on the title of the book that you want to view.
  • The cover page of the book will then appear on your screen.
  • Click Next to turn pages.
E-Books can also be accessed from home using a user name and password, which must first be created within the library.
  • Go to the library and log on to any or the public computers.
  • Click “Create An Account” - At the very top of the screen on the right side.
  • Complete the online form to create a username and password.

Once you have completed the form, you can use the username and password that you just created to access these books from home and anywhere outside of the library.

The Halifax County – South Boston Regional Library is very excited about this new resource. The library is striving to use new technologies to provide additional resources to our community. The addition of these online titles provides another avenue for our patrons that are in search of employment.

This new technology is a collaborative effort brought to us by several different Virginia organizations. Virginia’s Community College Workforce Development Services used federal stimulus funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to support this effort as a way to provide valuable information for students and job seekers. LYRASIS is now working with the Virginia Community Colleges, the Library of Virginia and OCLC in the selection and implementation of the new OCLC NetLibrary e-book collection for job and career seekers for public libraries throughout the state of Virginia.
