  • Accounts with total overdue fines higher than $15.00 will be blocked from all activity (e.g, borrowing items, downloading ebooks, public computer access).

Receive Email Reminders Before Items Are Due

A recent upgrade to the library's automated system now enables the library to send email reminders before materials are due. This great new feature will remind you when to renew/return your library books ahead of time. This is not only convenient for library patrons, it will also save the library money and time by automatically sending reminders and overdue notices by email, rather than printing and paying for postage to send paper overdue notices. To sign up for Email Reminders, simply call or come by either the Halifax or South Boston Libraries and give your email address to the library staff.

More Movies for More Days!

Now you can check out five DVDs for five days. DVDs can only be renewed once and the fine for late DVDs is $1.00 a day for each DVD. You still have to be eighteen to check out DVDs.

Changing Your Account Password Is Easier

Need to renew your books but the Library is closed? See a bestseller that you want to be on the waiting list for? Just want to know what you have checked out and when it's due back? If your patron account has a valid password, you can log in right now and do all of this. Don't have a password or forgot it? Just send email, phone, or go to any library branch in person and we can change it. You'll need to verify your library card number, name, address, and driver's license/ID number.

Sign Up For Email Notifications

Stay up to date on Library events and help us save money. Send us an email with your name and library card number in the message to receive all your notifications by email. Your address will never be given to a third party and you can tell us to remove you from our mailing list at any time.
