Halifax County South Boston Public Library System

The library will be closed on July 4.

The Library Board of Trustees will meet on July 11 at 4:30 pm at the Halifax Public Library.

The Summer Reading Program is in full swing!  Programs are listed on the library's calendar of events on this web site.  Reading logs are available at both branches of the library.

This summer the library is participating in the Summer Food Service Program.  Starting on June 5 and going through July 20, the library will offer cold bagged lunches at 12:30 and snacks at 3:30 free of charge to anyone 18 years of age and younger.  Lunches and snacks will be offered Mondays-Thursdays at both branches of the library.

Both branches of the library system will be alive and buzzing this sumer with programs and events for children of all ages, as well as the lunch and snack times for the Summer Food Service Program.  For those seeking a quiet space for reading or studying the South Boston Public Library has a room on the second floor that is used by those seeking a quiet area.  Due to space limitations the Halifax Public Library does not have a similar area.  Both branches will be alive and lively this summer and we invite everyone to visit our locations and use our services.

The library wishes to thank the following businesses, foundations, and agencies for supporting the 2017 Summer Reading Program and the Summer Feeding Program: Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company, Community Foundation of the Dan River Region, Dollar General Literacy Foundation, Friends of the Library, Frutopia, Halifax County Public Schools, Lowe's, United States Department of Agriculture, Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners.
